The Agriculture in the Classroom Program (AITC) of the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture, and the National Agriculture in the Classroom Consortium are pleased to announce the 2010 Excellence in Teaching about Agriculture Awards Program. This competitive program will recognize a select group of teachers for their successful efforts in teaching agricultural concepts in their curriculum.
We anticipate five awards being made for the 2010 program. The awards will be determined by a panel of experts knowledgeable in agriculture, education, and AITC for their outstanding contributions to education about American agriculture. Recipients of these distinguished awards will receive an honorarium of $500 and up to $1,500 for travel related expenses to the National Agriculture in the Classroom Conference in Baltimore, Maryland, on June 24-26, 2010.
Nominations are now open for these awards. The nomination guidelines and required forms are included with the downloadable application below. Note that an original and five copies of the nomination are required for consideration. These nominations must be received by the national AITC office on or before January 15. Please refer to the nomination guidelines which are included with the application for further information and addresses for submission.
