Major projects accomplished this year

  • National Ag Day: 750+ attended the 2nd Annual SD Ag Day celebration. 30+ exhibitors provided hands-on science activities connecting consumers and agriculture. The event was a collaborative effort of SDSU, SDAITC, Cooperative Extension Service, Washington Pavilion and USDA/NRCS.
    Teacher Training: SDAITC offered four graduate credit courses: It All Starts with A, Beans to Biotech, Green Eggs & Ag and The Science and Art of SD Soils. Twenty teachers attended each workshop.
  • Continued to implement pre-service training. Currently presenting at three of the seven univerisities both fall and spring semesters.
  • Women in Science: SDAITC assisted in statewide planning for the 2005 conferences by obtaining agriculture- and biological science-related speakers and agricultural career information at the trade show. 1200+ girls participated at four sites.
  • Classroom Presentations: SDAITC, SD Beef Industry Council and Black Hills Stock Show partnered to provide Agriculture in the Black Hills. 35 classrooms with 600+ students grades PreK-6th attended.
  • Revised our Ag Mag to a full-color publication sent to 1500 classrooms for a total 28,000 students, three times during the school year.
