Major projects accomplished this year
  • Received 2,006 entries from 3rd, 4th, 5th graders in OAITC Poster Contest.
  • Received 489 entries from 6th graders in OAITC Essay Contest.
  • Facilitated an Ag Day celebration that included lunch, OAITC activities, presentation of savings bonds, legislative citations and award medals to winners and finalists in the Poster and Essay Contest, in collaboration with the Oklahoma Beef Council and Southwest Dairy Museum.
  • Received entries from 35 classrooms involving 694 PreK, K, Transitional 1st,1st and 2nd graders in OAITC Bulletin Board contest.
  • Distributed 6000 OAITC school year calendars to educators.
  • Presented workshops with over 700 teachers at State Dept. of Education Conferences.
  • Facilitated over 125 teacher in-service training workshops.
  • Facilitated two "On the Road with Ag in the Classroom" workshops w/100 teachers in 3-day professional development visiting ag entities w/funding from the Oklahoma Beef Council.
  • Facilitated workshop w/40 teachers in 3-day traveling professional development to farms/farmers markets w/funding from Kerr Center for Sustainable Agriculture.
  • Facilitated four curriculum reviews with over 100 teachers. Teachers piloted lessons prior to the reviews. Each review focused on a different facet of the OAITC curriculum. Teachers also aligned lessons with the Oklahoma Priority Academic Student Skills.
  • Provided resources and training to the six school districts involved in the "Farm to School" program.
  • Received grant funding for translation of the ABCs of Oklahoma Agriculture, 25 AITC lessons and 25 AITC activity sheets to Spanish. Partnering with New Mexico on this grant opportunity.
  • OAITC Teacher of the Year received $500 honorarium from Oklahoma Wheat Producer, paid registration from Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women, paid expenses from Poultry Federation to AITC National Conference; Runner-Up received $100 from Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women.
  • Taught EDUC 4110, l hour undergrad ag literacy course at OSU each semester.
Major impacts the program had this year
  • 96% of Pre-K-6th grade teachers received curriculum to incorporate agriculture literacy into their classroom curriculum.
  • Increased in-kind or financial support by 25% from different commodity groups.
  • 50% of attendees at six OK State Dept of Education conferences learned how to include agriculture literacy into their curriculums.
  • Presentations at 75% of the state education conferences.
  • 100% of the pre-service agriculture education teachers and elementary teachers at three state universities learned the importance of teaching agriculture literacy.
  • 16% of Pre-K through 6th educators and cooperative extension educators received updated OAITC information and lessons each month through the OAITC web site.
  • 100% of the Agriculture Education classrooms and 100% of the Cooperative Extension offices received the History of America Agriculture CD.
  • 100% of the Agriculture Education classrooms and 100% of the Cooperative Extension offices receivedAg Man, The comic book", by Baxter Black.
  • OAITC resources sent to 100% (all 77) counties in Oklahoma as requested by teachers and cooperative extension educators.
