Major projects accomplished this year
We are working with nine Learning Through Gardening schools, have developed a bi-monthly gardening newsletter and a list serve that provides lessons, activities and reminders to all of the teachers for each of those schools. We provided three county fairs with staff to provide AITC activities and crafts. Campers involved in Farm Camp participated in the Sweet Science workshop—one of three savvy science workshops we provide. We developed and presented a new workshop "Cultivating the Curriculum." As a follow-up to working with other mid-atlantic states to create lessons and workshops using literature books, we created and presented "Read and Grow with Agriculture."

Major impacts the program had this year
5,000 elementary students participated in the Learning Through Gardening program—learning about the food and fiber connection to their daily lives on a daily basis. Early performance data from teachers who are part of the Learning Through Gardening program indicates that not only does student enthusiasm for learning go up but so do standardized test scores and classroom learning (93% and 83%, respectively). Workshop attendess reported that they will use at least 50% of the workshop materials and ideas in their classrooms.
