Major projects accomplished this year

  • Sponsored statewide conference for 160 educators
  • Worked with the Kentucky Department of Agriculture and other environmental education groups to sponsor and conduct pre-service training for state universities
  • Conducted a children's exhibit/activity at the state fair for over 3,500 children
  • Worked with a major newspaper to develop and distribute a special ag tabloid for 500 elementary schools
  • Increased agriculture's message and visibility among career and technical education teachers at the middle and high school levels

Major impacts the program had this year

  • Agriculture literacy increased in over 160 classrooms by teachers' participation in statewide conferences.
  • Over seven state universities included education about agriculture education as a requirement in pre-service education.
  • Volunteer efforts to educate about the food and fiber system are supported statewide by providing resources and staff assistance.
  • Cooperative relationships and education efforts among the major agriculture, environmental and conservation groups are on-going resulting in maximizing of available funds and education efforts.
