Major projects accomplished this year

  • We hosted the 2005 National Convention in Indiana. We developed an ag commodity poster, showing each county in Indiana and the commodities they produce. We are in the process of developing a safety DVD with local farmers to show the dangers of farm equipment on the road and how to drive with farm equipment on the road. With our current activity book for younger kids, we are developing one for middle school-aged children as well. We also used money from a golf tourney to help our counties purchase a prize wheel for use at ag days and farming the classroom events. The total price was $300 and we split the total with the counties. Those that have used it, say that it brings attention to their displays and the kids love them!

Major impacts the program had this year

  • Indiana Farm Bureau is perceived by the public as the #1 source of ag education for children. Our materials are correlated with the Indiana State Standards and are well-received in the public schools. Professional farmer instructors are welcomed into the classroom.
