Monsanto Outreach Grant
Monsanto Outreach For Agriculture Grant Program
At the 2004 National AITC Conference, a unique program was announced as a joint venture between Monsanto and the National AITC Consortium. Monsanto, with a clear commitment to Agriculture Literacy, granted the National AITC Consortium $50,000 to be used for grants to State AITC Program over the next 3 years. Today, we announce the first winners of this grant program. We are pleased with the to work with Monsanto Representatives Kerry Preete, Vice President US Crop Production; Doug Schemmer, Global Industry Affairs Corn; Julie Doane US Customer Outreach Lead; and Kristen Sebben, Special Projects Director.

"Alaska AITC K-12 Educator e-Learning Professional Development Project"
This project will increase Alaska AITC outreach efforts to educators, create a non-traditional approach to professional development across the state of Alaska, create a model for e-learning that is replicable in other states and regions and build an on-line learning community.
Florida Agriculture in the Classroom

"Florida Agriculture Literacy Day"
This project is a day in March in which farmers, ranchers, University of Florida,/IFAS extension and 4-H agents, agriculture association representatives and FFA students go into elementary classrooms around the state to read a designated children's book about Agriculture. The project will reach more than 2,000 classrooms in 2006.

"What The Heck Can You Do With Biotech"
This is a 3 day interactive workshop for faculty preparation and enhancement of teaching. The focus will be on the integration of agriculture (including biological sciences, biotechnology, renewable resources, environmental impacts and agricultural careers at the middle school level) across existing curriculum, while meeting state education standards.
