Fun Faces of Wisconsin Agriculture Lesson Plans
Resource/Lesson Plan Booklets for A Young Shepherd and Harvest Year books.
Major Program Accomplishments
Obtained a $10,000 USDA Ace Grant to develop a new set of lesson plans that focus on agricultural careers. The
project, Incorporating Agriculture into Academia, will be coordinated with the Wisconsin Agribusiness Council.
Conducted two series of Volunteer Training (January 2007 and Fall 2007) with more than 133 participants.
Distributed $1,800 to 18 teachers through Teacher Mini-Grant Program.
Conducted five one-day Summer Teacher In-services for 54 participants.
Administered $7,679 of AITC Matching Grants to 25 local agricultural groups.
Distributed 3,000 Resource Guides.
Increased participation to 1,245 students in the essay contest for 4-5th grade students.
Ten applicants in the Wisconsin AITC Outstanding Teacher Award program.
Completed Fun Faces of Wisconsin Agriculture Lesson Plan Project. Began distribution of 250 hard copy and 1000
CD-ROM lessons which are correlated to Wisconsin Model Academic Standards for Science, Social Studies,
Language Arts & Math.
Increased Soybean Science Kit usage to 5,716 students and coordinated additional training.
Provided Soybean Science Kit training for 53 teachers and volunteers funding sponsored by the Wisconsin
Soybean Program.
Helped to distribute 10,000 Amazing Corn activity booklets with funding from the Wisconsin Corn Promotion Board.
Increased visibility by attending eight teachers conventions & two agriculture shows.
Conducted activities to encourage financial support of AITC programs by other Wisconsin agricultural organizations
and groups.
Continued to develop a partnership with Alice in Dairyland and DATCP to provide resources, training and outreach
activities.
Continued partnership with GROWMARK, Inc.
Continued to improve a tracking system of local AITC programs.
Developed lesson plans and hands-on activities for books in the Children's Book program.
Major Program Impacts
Increased volunteer training participants from 110 to 133 during two training periods.
Increase In-kind donations for Wisconsin AITC from $62,783 to $64,741.
Increased funding to $1,800 for 18 teachers through Teacher Mini-Grant Program.
Increased number of Summer Teacher In-services from four to five locations.
Increased participation from 1151 to 1,245 students in the essay contest for 4-5th grade students.
Increased from nine to ten applicants in the Wisconsin AITC Outstanding Teacher Award program.
Increased Soybean Science Kit usage from 3967 to 5,716 students and coordinated three training workshops.
Increased visibility by attending three additional teachers' conventions.
Increased county AITC expenditures from $98,966 to $97,783.
