Completed a Literacy Project funded by the ACE grant connecting 6 books with about 30 lessons.

Reviewed/updated state educational standards on elementary, middle school and school garden lessons.

Revised elementary lessons so teachers could easily use/prepare for AITC lesson.

Major Program Accomplishments
Virginia AITC conducted 52 training programs throughout Virginia reaching 974 educators and pre-service teachers in 2006-2007.

Two educational newsletters were published. The first coordinated with the 400th anniversary of the Jamestown settlement and highlighted contributions of the English settlers to Virginia agriculture. The second newsletter was on school gardens.

825 educators registered for the School Garden Project. Teachers receive free seeds and catalogs from Southern States and activities from AITC.

Conducted the first year end on line survey of teachers to access how they were using their AITC training and materials.

Major Program Impacts
Through training programs and the School Garden Project, more than 38,211 Virginia students were impacted by the AITC program.

98% of workshop participants ranked the AITC workshop they attended as Excellent or Good on the 2006-2007 evaluations. 89% of those attending indicated their perception and understanding changed because of the workshop. These percentages did not change from the previous year.

There was a 7.7% response on the year end 2006-2007 evaluations. 97% of those responding found AITCs curriculum to be well-aligned to the state standards and so is a useful resource for Virginia teachers. VA AITC continues to have the strongest impact in science where 87% teachers rank it as well addressing standards and utilizing it in that area of instruction.
