Classroom Resources

We developed a DVD (video) about all the agriculture in RI and distributed it to every 6th grade in RI. It was also broadcast on cable TV.

Biosketch

Al Bettencourt has a masters degree in public administration and a BA in social science / secondary education. He is the executive director of RI Farm Bureau. He has worked with the RI Farm Bureau for nearly 11 years. From 1981 - 1993 he was the state executive director of the ASCS (now called FSA). He started the Ag in the Classroom program in RI in 1983. He received the administrator's Award for Servive to Agriculture in 1990 for his service to the AITC program. He turned the program over to RI Farm Bureau when he left USDA in 1993. When he returned to the Farm Bureau in 2000 he resumed running the program. He turned over the program to RICAPE in 2002. RICAPE gave it back to the Farm Bureau in 2010.
