Major Program Accomplishments
NH Ag in the Classroom worked hard over the winter months to develop a personal, one-on-one working partnership with our state congressmen to find federal funding for our program. Although their support and efforts to find us appropriations was unsuccessful we have started a great relationship that will continue to assist and support our efforts as we find ways to support our program.

NHAITC has continued developing a comprehensive "NH Ag History" curriculum unit that will meet NH state standards and provide for further inclusion of agriculture in the classroom as NH history is required teaching in NH 4th grades.

Currently our new website is under construction. Without doubt this will be a major boost to our program as a way to reach more children and educators with our resources and our message.

Our partnership with the NH Plant Growers Association produced two successful IPM units. One is a very "hightech" unit that includes a web connection between schools and classrooms. A virtual daily tour of a greenhouse follows the greenhouse grower as they track the growth and economics of greenhouse poinsettias. The classroom can see daily activities in the greenhouse via the web cam from a local greenhouse and via a power point presentation in class.

The children will be following along with their own plants in the classroom. Filled with hands-on activities this unit will focus not only on IPM but the history of the beautiful poinsettia. The lesson plans will incorporate history, math, science, and language arts.

Major Program Impacts
75% of all teachers who came to workshops stated they used AITC material within 2 weeks after attending and will continue to do so.

Four issues of our newsletter "Food for Thought" reached over 2900 recipients in all areas of the state. 3,000 students were able to participate in a university-sponsored School to Farm Program, prompting over 100 teachers to become involved in NHAITC.

IPM Booklet and upcoming Poinsettia Project produced by NHAITC in cooperation with NH Plant Grower and NH Dept. of Pesticide Control will reach over 13,000 children between now and next year.

50% of the research work began for NH Ag History.

Educational resource material has been expanded upon by 15%, and over 30 new items have been added to the loan list.

Our new incubation unit and incubators purchased with the help of a state grant are out on loan 100% of the time and often a waiting list is necessary; thus we are reaching an additional 125-225 children with this great science lesson.

Over 25% of NH schools have a teacher that regularly receives AITC information and newsletters with the list climbing by 5-10% each year.
