Major Program Accomplishments
The main focus of Louisiana's Ag in the Classroom program is educator training. Each year we conduct teacher workshops around the state. However, because we had the honor and opportunity to host the 2007 USDA National Agriculture in the Classroom Conference in New Orleans we did not conduct our regular workshops. We directed all of our resources toward the National Conference. In an effort to get Louisiana teachers the opportunity to attend the National Conference we offered 40 educator scholarships. There were 100 people from Louisiana in attendance at the conference with 65 of those being classroom teachers. We feel that the National Conference was a tremendous success and will benefit Louisiana AITC.

We continue with our Outstanding Ag in the Classroom Teacher Award. The winning teacher receives an expense paid trip to the National AITC conference and the Louisiana Farm Bureau Annual Convention and a $500 cash award.

Sow, Grow and Know, our educator newsletter is published bi-annually in the spring and fall. The newsletter is sent to 2,500 educators.

Our AITC program also does volunteer training through Louisiana Farm Bureau. An AITC workshop is conducted at the Annual Convention in June as well as various presentations made to the Farm Bureaus Women's Leadership Committee and the Young Farmers and Ranchers meetings statewide.
